Celebrating David Brennan’s Induction into the Fleet News Hall of Fame

At this year’s 2025 FN50 Dinner, hosted by Fleet News, we were delighted to see our very own David Brennan — Nexus Vehicle Rental’s former CEO and current Non-Executive Chairman — inducted into the prestigious Fleet News Hall of Fame.

Sponsored by The AA and presented by James Starling, Business Services Director, the Hall of Fame recognises individuals who have made an outstanding and lasting contribution to the fleet sector. David joins an esteemed group of leaders whose influence has shaped the industry over decades.

A legacy of leadership and growth

David’s career has been defined by his drive for excellence and his commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

He began his journey in the automotive world with the Rover Group in the late 1980s and went on to hold senior roles at AT Kearney, Polk, and Capita before entering the fleet sector as Managing Director of LeasePlan UK in 2006.

During his eight years at LeasePlan, David doubled group profits, achieved Sunday Times “Best Companies” status, and led the business to second place in the FN50 rankings, all while maintaining customer loyalty at an impressive 90%.

When he joined Nexus Vehicle Rental as CEO, David brought that same strategic vision and relentless focus on growth. Under his leadership, Nexus experienced transformative success, expanding its digital rental platform, strengthening customer relationships, and building the foundations for the company’s continued growth and innovation.

An ongoing influence

Today, David continues to guide Nexus as Non-Executive Chairman, offering invaluable support and insight as we evolve within an ever-changing mobility landscape.

Beyond Nexus, he also serves as Chairman of Direct Tyre Management and is a founding member of Pep Talks, a peer-to-peer learning community for CEOs of private equity-backed organisations. Through Pep Talks, David shares his experience and leadership wisdom to help others navigate the challenges of modern business, a reflection of his belief in the power of collaboration and continuous learning.

A well-deserved honour

David’s induction into the Fleet News Hall of Fame is a fitting recognition of his exceptional career and impact on the fleet industry.

Speaking on behalf of the business, Scott Haddow, CEO of Nexus Vehicle Rental, said:

“David’s contribution to both Nexus and the wider fleet sector has been nothing short of transformational. His strategic vision, commitment to innovation, and focus on customer excellence continue to inspire everything we do today. This honour is a testament to his leadership and lasting influence.”

We’re incredibly proud of David’s achievements and the legacy he continues to build. His dedication, leadership, and passion for excellence embody the values we strive to uphold every day at Nexus.

Congratulations once again, David, on this richly deserved recognition from the entire team at Nexus Rental.
