Following record results in November last year, in which we facilitated more than 20,000 vehicles out on rent in a single day, we’re experiencing a record extended peak period as demand continues so that businesses can keep their staff moving safely during the third national lockdown.
As organisations up and down the country continue to wrangle with the challenges presented by the pandemic and social distancing measures, businesses across a variety of sectors – including utilities, logistics and construction – have needed to rapidly increase their fleet capacity in a time when Government restrictions mean vehicle sharing is not compliant with current safety guidelines.
Over the last 12 months we’ve seen a rising demand for vehicle rental as organisations ensure mobility in their supply chain, and we’re currently tracking over 50% up on the same period last year. The UK’s vehicle hire industry is already a vital part of the supply chain for these businesses and an ideal solution for those that need to rapidly scale-up their fleets whilst mitigating costs.
Despite some of the most challenging supply conditions ever seen in the rental marketplace, we’ve successfully managed to fulfil the vast majority of the vehicle rental orders required by its clients.
David Brennan, our CEO, said: “The last 12 months have been hugely challenging for businesses, but it’s really positive to see how our customers’ business models have pivoted to meet consumer demand and taken advantage of the flexibility rental provides. We are proud to have been able to keep businesses moving throughout this difficult period – helping our customers to scale their fleets, facilitate social distancing, and be better prepared for bumps in the road as we continue to navigate through the ongoing uncertainty in 2021.
“The third lockdown has meant many companies require additional vehicles in order to provide safe working environments for distributed teams, which we have been able to support due to our unrivalled extensive supply chain which gives us excellent visibility of availability of vehicles nationally.
“Providing a timely, practical and cost-effective rental solution ensures clients remain mobile in times such as these and it shows in the huge number of extra vehicles we’re being asked to facilitate this winter.”
Operating the UK’s largest supply chain of 550,000 vehicles from over 2,000 locations, from electric vehicles to HGVs, we use innovative technology to connect customers to any vehicle, anywhere, anytime through its award-winning online vehicle rental management software, IRIS.
As additional safeguarding measures and restrictions remain in place across the UK, we can continue to provide cars, vans, trucks, and HGVs to ensure the UK’s key workers are mobile and essential services are able to continue.
