Nexus Supports Debenhams

January 5, 2016 4:51 pm

Nexus meets a wide range of demands for the Debenhams Retail Group.

Debenhams is not only one of the UK’s best known retailers, it is the only one to have retained its individual identity and is a leading international, multi-channel brand that trades out of 246 stores across 27 countries. It gives customers around the world a unique, differentiated and exclusive mix of their own and international brands and concessions.

In the UK, Debenhams has a top four market share in womenswear and menswear and a top ten share in childrenswear, while it leads the market in premium health and beauty products.

Debenhams is available online in 70 countries and is the eleventh biggest UK online retailer by traffic volume.

It owns and operates 175 stores in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Denmark which together provide over 12 million square feet of trading space. These vary in size from a small unit of 15,000 square feet to a flagship location of over 200,000 square feet. Stores are found on high streets, town centre shopping centres, regional shopping venues or retail parks.

They offer customers a wide range of services, including restaurants and cafes, personal shopping assistance, hairdressing and beauty treatments, nail bars and wedding/celebration gift services. The UK flagship site is on Oxford Street, London.

Debenhams has been a Nexus client since December 2011. Specifying mainly cars and light commercial vehicles, they look to us for a variety of short term rental needs; for a replacement if a car is off the road for repair or maintenance; when people need to move between sites for training or meetings; and for new staff pending delivery of their company car.

The company makes about 2,000 transactions a year and, as a multi-site operation, it needs a partner who can cover its national footprint and the varying requirements of every store from Cornwall to Scotland, as well as those of head office, its support centres as well as regional managers and other circumstances as they occur.

Debenhams has recently upgraded to Version 4 of our world leading software technology, which has been modified to the company’s particular needs.

Steve Light, Facilities Controller at Debenhams Retail, said: “Nexus supports our operations by supplying reliable, timely and cost effective short term hire vehicles nationwide and their prices have remained competitive in the market.

“Our nominated staff are able to book their requirements with Nexus directly, over the telephone or online, with both methods being easy and quick to use.

“The Nexus IRIS system enables us to stay in control of our costs by giving access to all hire information online and drilling down to hire specifics as and when we require. Nexus also help to control damage claims submitted by suppliers. The system is flexible and easy to use and we continue to enjoy a healthy relationship with Nexus.”
